HOW DOES THE DATA RECOVERY PROCESS WORK?

Data recovery involves two stages: diagnosis and recovery. During diagnosis our lab technicians will determine the actual type of damage on the hard disc and likely volume of recoverable data. This information, along with pricing options, will be presented to you in a Data Recovery Evaluation Report available on-line. We wait for your approval before the recovery is performed.

HOW DO I PACK MY HARD DISC?

Carefully remove the hard disc from the computer case, taking care not to touch the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) as this could cause an electrostatic discharge and further damage your media . Place the drive in an anti-static bag closed with adhesive tape. Put the bag in a box with appropriate dimensions and padding to keep it stable. Please visit our shipping and handling page for more detailed instruction on how to pack your device.

CAN YOU RECOVER DATA AFTER A VIRUS ATTACK?

Viruses come in many different forms. Not all of them are designed to affect the logical structure of a hard disc. Many viruses only attack and use the processor time, thus allowing data to large numbers of average user’s computers. Other viruses ‘infiltrate’ themselves in the Master Boot Record of a hard disc to be easily loaded together with the operating system.  Here, they corrupt the data structure. Either way, if your anti-virus protection did not help or if  databases are still missing after virus removal, we suggest stopping all work and contact My Data Recovery Lab. Continuing work on a damaged hard disc can overwrite required databases and add more difficulty to the data recovery process.

I DELETED DATA IN THE RECYCLE BIN, CAN IT BE RECOVERED?

Yes. Please note: User’s often first turn to easily downloaded and installed programs available on Internet for deleted data recovery. Unfortunately, most of these tools utilize routines that not only scan the device but also write over it making access to deleted data more difficult.  We often receive these cases with additional logic structure damage.
